The last few weekends have been a blast. So. Much. Fun. Mostly because I got to spend some time doing what I love most: shooting photos. But this time was a little unique. I had a student along with me.
Meet Rachel, my photography student. She heard about me through Rocket City Mom, and wanted to learn more about how to become a photographer.
Over the course of several days, we traveled around Huntsville for one-on-one training taking photos of nature, architecture, art photography, portrait photography — she even conducted her own photo session! We talked about posing, composition, making subjects feel comfortable, working with natural lighting, and we even touched on those manual settings.
We had a ton of fun together. We completed exercises and photography challenges, conducted a real photo session — she even had homework assignments. All in all, it completely awesome, and I’m missing our sessions!
Here’s a little excerpt about her, Q& A style:
Me: What got you interested in photography?
Rachel: I’ve always taken photos at family events, and now I want to learn more & start putting together a portfolio.
Me: What do you most like photographing?
Rachel: Family members, and nature.
Me: What kind of photography can you see yourself getting in to 5 years down the road?
Rachel: I’d love to be a wedding photographer. Maybe even work for National Geographic.
Isn’t she great? I miss her already!
